ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT- Children cannot learn if they are not in school.  Each teacher makes an effort to encourage students to be in school every day and we need your support, too.  Unless your child has a fever or other visible signs of illness, please send them to school.

Each month, students without an absence, tardy or have not left early, are given an award.  If your child must be absent, BE SURE TO SEND A WRITTEN NOTE with them upon their return.  The note must contain their name, the dates they were absent, and the reason for the absence.  If you child is absent or tardy, you may receive an automated call from the District office informing you of the absence or tardy.  The District’s goal is no more than 7 absences for the entire school year in order to reach 96% attendance.

In order to meet your needs, Ms. Nazario is seeking topics of interest to parents so we can present parent workshops.

In order for you to assist us on campus and on field trips, you must be a registered volunteer.  IF YOU ARE NOT A REGISTERED PARENT VOLUNTEER, YOU MAY NOT GO ON FIELD TRIPS OR BE ON CAMPUS IN A CLASSROOM.  If you want to become a volunteer, please get an application from the office.  No applications will be processed after FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2018.

SAFE CAMPUS POLICY – Our school implements the district’s safe campus policy.  In the morning, parents must remain within the Pavilion Area (behind the office) until the bell rings.  Parents should not be by the classrooms or in the quad.  Parents may enter and exit the school through the Plainview Ave. Gate only.  In the afternoon during dismissal at 2:34 pm, parents must wait for their child in the Pavilion Area for the first 15 minutes until 2:50 pm.  This gives a chance for students to look for siblings and meet up with parents.  Parents may walk to the playground after the first 15 minutes if they haven’t met up with their child.  Children who are not picked up immediately at 2:34 PM will be directed to go to the playground after 10 minutes.  IT IS VERY HAZARDOUS FOR YOUR CHILD TO WAIT ALONE AFTER 2:45 IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL because they are unsupervised and cannot be seen by staff.

TRAFFIC SAFETY MESSAGE- Traffic congestion is a serious problem around our school.  Everyone must do what they can to assure the safety of our children.  Sometimes a small inconvenience is necessary to keep our children safe.  Please do not park in the No Parking zone or in the bus zone.  It is extremely hazardous when parents double park or let children off across the street.

Students can be dropped off and picked up at the back gate on Jayseel Street.  Parents are not allowed to cross the playground in the morning (for their safety and for our students’ safety).  Please be mindful of our students and drive slowly.

SCHOOL VISITORS - ALL PARENTS AND OTHER VISITORS must check-in at the office and receive a visitor’s pass. If you are a registered volunteer, you must sign in and out in the office.  You must wear your badge while you are here.  Your badge must stay in the office.

NO PARENT OR OTHER ADULT MAY COMMUNICATE NEGATIVELY OR DISCIPLINE CHILDREN ON OUR GROUNDS AT ANY TIME.  If you are having a problem with someone else’s child, please see your child’s teacher, the coordinator, the assistant principal or the principal.

NO DAILY NURSING SERVICES – We have a nurse only on THURSDAYS and FRIDAYS.  Please do not send your child to school ill.  If they have had a fever, they must be fever free for 24 hours before they can return.  If they have an injury from home and something is bandaged, or in a cast, or they have stiches, we require a note from their doctor.

INDIAN EDUCATION PROGRAM - Plainview is a part of the Indian Education Program.  If your child is an American Indian/Native American and you would like to complete an Indian Student Certification Form, please call the school principal before October 31, 2018.
