VALENTINE’S DAY – On this day, our focus is on showing appreciation for our friends and family.  There will be time set aside after lunch for the exchanging of cards in your child’s classroom on Thursday, February 14, 2019.  It is not mandatory for your child to participate.

PRESIDENT’S DAY – Monday, February 18, 2019 is President's Day.  The school and playground will be closed.

READING IS FUNDAMENTAL – Our theme is “My Favorite Dr. Seuss Book”.  Students and parents will have the opportunity to create Dr. Seuss inspired book marks.  All students will get to choose a book to take home and add to their library on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

DR. SEUSS/READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY - We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America on Friday, March 1, 2019.  Our Parent Volunteers have many exciting events planned for the day.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS – Please remember that we have a school uniform.  Black or navy bottoms, (pants, skirts, shorts, etc.), burgundy or navy tops.  NO JEANS, no sweat pants or leggings EXCEPT ON FRIDAYS.  Fridays are free dress days.  Students must always wear closed toed shoes.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION UPDATED - If you have changed your phone numbers (home, work or cell) please inform the office to change the information on your child's emergency card and the computer. If you need to change the emergency contacts or your address, please fill out a new emergency card with the office.

SAFETY IS # 1 – Please do not have your child wait for you in front of the school after dismissal past 20 minutes. Please have them wait on the school grounds.  The playground is supervised or they can sit and wait in the lunch area.  IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR CHILD TO WAIT AFTER 20 MINUTES IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL because there is no supervision and they cannot be seen from the office.  Please be considerate to our neighbors and do not honk your horn for your child.  Parents may park in the parking lot after 3:00 pm.  However, parents are NEVER allowed to park OR DRIVE on the service road or on campus.

LOST AND FOUND – Please check your child’s items, (lunch pail, jacket, sweater, etc.) to make sure it is theirs.  Some students have the same items and they get confused.  If your child is missing items, please check their classroom and the lost and found by the auditorium.  Make sure you write your child’s name on their items and inside their jacket.  Also, there is a collection of glasses in the office, so if your child has lost theirs, please check with the office.

Ways to HELP YOUR CHILD - To help your child follow the suggestions recently published by a national survey done by the PTA:

1. Listen and talk to your child.

2. Be proud of their academic achievements and accomplishments.

3. Encourage your child to regularly do their homework on their own.

4. Remind your child to do their best effort on all of their school work.
