March 2, 2018 –READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY AND Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss – Students will participate in fun activities in honor of Dr. Seuss.


CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION CAMPAIGN Our annual campaign will begin on Thursday, March 1, 2018 and end on Friday, March 21, 2018.  Detailed information will be sent home.


AWARDS ASSEMBLY – The Awards Assembly will be on Friday, March 2, 2018.  K & 1st grade will be at 8:35 AM, 2nd & 3rd grade will be at 9:15, 4th & 5th grade will be at 10:30 AM.


READING IS FUNDAMENTAL – In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, our R.I.F. book distribution will be on Monday, March 5, 2018 in the Library.  All students will receive a new book and a gently used book for their home library.  Students need to have a decorated bag to bring their books home in.  Our theme is Dr. Seuss. 

If you have books that your child has outgrown, you can donate them in the office.  They will be given out to students as their gently used book. 


FIFTH GRADE PLAY – The fifth grade will perform Wagons Ho on Tuesday, March 6 at 9:15 am and 11:00 am.


iReady Recognition Awards – All students who were on grade level in their middle of the year iReady assessment will receive recognition.  The ceremony will be in the Quad, on March 8, 2018 at 8:10 am. 



Please join us on March 8, 2018 at 2:40 pm in the Library.


LAUSD CHARTER DIVISION OVERSITE VISIT – Alex from the Charter office will be on campus from 8 to 2 to review our documentation and progress of our school.


FIFTH GRADE FUND RAISER – The fifth grade will have their Arcade in the quad on March 9, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.  All students can participate and it is $5.00 for the unlimited pass.


O.L.S.A.T. – The OLSAT-8 (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, Eighth Edition) is a nationally standardized, norm-referenced, group administered measure of verbal and non-verbal school abilities given to all second grade students. It is a multiple choice test that lasts approximately 75 minutes. 


ALL second graders will be tested for the purpose of identification as gifted in the High Achievement Category.  Testing will take place in their classroom on Wednesday, March 14th and Thursday, March 15, 2018.

FIFTH GRADE PARENT MEETING – There will be a meeting in Room 26, on March 14, 2018 at 2:45 pm, for all fifth grade parents.  



On Sunday, March 11, 2018, set your clocks one hour forward.  Please remember to set your clocks so that on Monday, March 12, 2018, your child will not be tardy.


P.T.A. MEETING – Please join us for our monthly P.T.A. meeting on Wednesday, March 21, in the auditorium at 2:45 pm.


VISION TO LEARN – The Mobile Van will be here on Friday, March 23, to provide FREE eye exams to all students who have returned their form.  Vision to Learn will provide FREE eye glasses to those students who need them. 

This is a great opportunity to get your child FREE glasses. 

If your child is missing their glasses, please come into the office and check.  We have about 20 pairs of unclaimed eyes glasses.


SPRING FLING and BREAK – Spring Fling will be on Friday, March 23 at 1:00 with school dismissal at 1:54 pm.

Spring Break is Monday, March 26 until Friday, March 30.  Cesar Chavez Day is Monday, April 2nd and school will be closed.  We will return from Spring Break on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.  





Kindergarten Orientation – There will be an orientation on April 19th at 8:30 am and 5:00 pm for incoming kindergarten students.  The meeting will take place in the auditorium and will last about 1 hour.   



*It is L.A.U.S.D. policy that the school does not give out any personal information (including addresses, phone numbers, & e-mail addresses) of any of our staff members because of privacy issues.  However, you may always contact any staff members through our school phone number (818) 353-1730 or their LAUSD e-mail account.


*Students have Physical Education on specific days.  Please check with your child’s teacher for the exact days so that they are dressed appropriately for P.E. 


*Please do not pull into the school driveway or parking lot to drop off your child.  It is dangerous for your child and you block traffic, and you may cause an accident.

Please, do not park in the handicap space or the area with blue lines, which is access for the handicap space.  You will receive a ticket for blocking disabled persons’ access.  You must have Handicap authorization otherwise it is a $371 parking ticket.

Please, do not park or drive down the service road.  Access is limited to deliveries and staff parking.
